My writing reveals my interest in the intersection of the spiritual and secular, the supernatural and the everyday, the past and the present. Influenced by writers as diverse as Timothy Findley, Albert Camus, J.R.R. Tolkien, Sigrid Undset, and Patrick O'Brian, I'm fascinated by people's relationship with religion, the psychological interaction between people in all types of relationships, and by the miraculous and the frightening (often the same thing). In addition to writing, I am an avid reader, have a passion for a wide variety of music, and am an amateur mandolin player. I have traveled extensively throughout the U.S. and Europe , somehow always finding my way into churches, cathedrals, and fabulous restaurants. I live in Northern California with my husband Craig, a professional photographer and high school social studies teacher. I received my B.A. in Humanities with a double minor in British literature and art history, and an M.A. in English. I am an affiliate member of the California Writers Club and a member of the Historical Novel Society, Broad Universe, and the Women's National Book Association, San Francisco chapter.
